DIY makeup (Free of chemicals)

Posted by Anastacia on June 6, 2013 at 12:05 PM

Ever have a reaction to a makeup, and go on to search for that perfect replacement, only to spend hundreds of  dollars on more TRASH? BUT you still long for those, sexy, smoky eyes, and permanent make-up is not for you?

I am here to offer a solution for you, chemical free make-up, and trash free, too!

I have a recipe for kohl eyeliner, a must have for the ladies make-up drawer! Kohl was and is used from Morocco to India. Use of kohl, believed to be for protection of the eyes against blowing dust, is at least 3000 years old, possibly older. No, L'Oreal did not dream this up...but did come up with synthetic forms for profit.

1) in a metal sifter, place of a mortar bowl, burn ten ALMONDS, one a a time. It can take 2-3 minutes to get one lit, so be patient        .

2) Sift the ashes into the mortar bowl below and crush them, as finely as possible, with the pestle rod.  <MORTAR

3) add a drop of oil and crush/grind it again. NOTE: The mixture needs to be powdery, or you've added too much oil. NOTE-  oil: grape seed/safflower/sunflower, or organic: soy/canola. Make sure they are not GMO/GE.

4) transfer the powder into a jar and apply liner with toothpick, or a kohl container (with applicator),

seen below.

Do NOT buy kohl liner from L'Oreal, they test on rabbits.
